Design for All

Executive Director | Urban Designer | Innovator

I work at the intersection of design, development, and systems change — translating complex public processes into community-centered outcomes. I’ve led multidisciplinary teams, led master planning efforts, advanced design excellence in high-stakes public projects, and built programs that expand access to opportunity. My focus is on using design as a tool for dignity, equity, and long-term impact.

Impact in Numbers

BIO

Sreoshy Banerjea serves as Executive Director of NYC's Public Design Commission, where she oversees a $40+ billion capital portfolio and leads an 11-member commission reviewing 600+ projects annually on city-owned land.  She has transformed PDC operations by streamlining approval timelines, secured a $3M Mellon Foundation grant for NYCHA's Roots to Arts artist-in-residency program, and convened city agencies to produce collaborative policy guidance including Building a Family Friendly City and launching Streetscapes for Wellness—work that bridges planning and design authority with community impact.

Design, Development, and Systems Change

I shape how projects move from concept to implementation — across citywide capital portfolios, neighborhood-scale development, and community-driven initiatives. In addition to the work highlighted here, I’ve led design review oversight, master planning, zoning analysis, and development strategy across multiple NYC neighborhoods — informing major capital investments and public-private initiatives. Selected work highlighted here.
